AALS Survey of Law Schools on Programs and Courses Designed to Enhance Bar Examination Performance

Richard A. White, Association of American Law Schools

Abstract

"The AALS Committee on Bar Admissions and Lawyer Performance concluded that preparation for the bar examination is an important issue for law schools as well as their graduates. The survey reveals that while many schools have taken steps to address this concern by instituting programs specifically designed to improve bar performance, many more have yet to begin efforts of this type. While there is not a single type of program that would be suitable for every school, the following recommendations should be considered by each school contemplating such a program, taking into account the school's assessment of the needs of its student body."
